Emergency Response

Available 24/7, NORA advocates respond with empathy and professionalism to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. In moments of intense stress, trauma, or sudden disruption, they provide a safe, compassionate presence. They assess urgent needs, ensure safety, and offer both emotional support and practical assistance.

Advocates validate survivors’ experiences, address safety concerns, and connect them to resources for ongoing care. Through expertise and compassion, they empower individuals to feel heard, respected, and supported. They help them regain control, build resilience, and develop coping strategies.

Law Enforcement Advocacy

If survivors choose to seek justice, they have the right to request an advocate to be present during any law enforcement interviews.

Advocates will listen intuitively to the interview, and can advocate on behalf of the survivor to take a break if they notice the survivor is becoming overwhelmed. They can also voice a survivor's concerns to law enforcement after the interview.

Court Accompaniment

For any court proceedings related to their assault — such as obtaining a restraining order or prosecuting the assailant, a survivor can choose to have a NORA advocate accompany them.

An advocate will — in collaboration with the deputy district attorney, help survivors better understand the basic legal process, court etiquette, and help survivors prepare a Victim Inpact Statement.
