For over 50 years, NORA has provided equitable, inclusive, and affirming care to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse in Riverside County.

Through our 24/7 crisis response, mental health support, and prevention education programs, we empower survivors to stop the cycle of violence so often passed down in our families and communities—effectively ending sexual violence in Riverside County. Every year, NORA serves over 2,000 survivors, providing them with advocacy, resources, and support in their journey toward healing.

One of these individuals is Emily, a survivor of child abuse and domestic violence. The trauma of witnessing her father beat and sexually assault her mother throughout her childhood followed her into adulthood, leading to unhealthy coping mechanisms and hindering her ability to care for her own children.

Through counseling sessions with a NORA clinical therapist, Emily processed her trauma, learned to identify her triggers, and practiced healthy ways to cope with intense emotions. In Emily’s words:

“I can now show up and be the best mother I can be for my children. Looking at their beautiful faces reminds me why emotional healing is so important.”

By accessing help for herself, Emily showed her children they are deserving of unconditional love—and ended the cycle of abuse in her family.

We know that stories like Emily’s can be difficult to hear and process. They are painful, but they are real. Behind every statistic is a survivor fighting to reclaim their life, often suffering in silence. That is why we need your support.
